Review of Philz Coffee in Lafayette, California from a Local

Philz Coffee is one of my favorite cafes in my hometown of Lafayette, California. Philz generally chooses trendy locations for their pour-over coffee shops, so when Philz moved into my town, I was happy to see that we were on the trendiness map!
The Lafayette location of Philz has fast become a popular neighborhood hangout. Located on Mount Diablo Blvd, Lafayette's de facto Main Street, Philz is a light-filled and airy cafe with a long coffee bar, plenty of seating, and even a few couches towards the front of the store. A mural elevates the space and makes it feel unique.
Like all Philz locations, the Philz in Lafayette has delicious pour-over coffee, and shaken drinks that are a bit like a traditional latte. I like their Iced Gingerbread coffee, which has loads of nutmeg, cloves and other warm spices.
Philz Lafayette also has delicious pastries from Starter bakery, and some basic breakfast sandwiches. I'd like to see more healthy options for food, like whole fruit, too though.
One thing I love about our local Philz is the courtyard it shares with several nearby stores. With comfy outdoor chairs and a tiled fountain, it's the perfect place to sip and coffee or to bump into a friend from the neighborhood.
Parking is plentiful in the lot behind Philz, but unfortunately it's paid parking. I like to arrive before 10am when parking is still free.
Philz Lafayette makes our otherwise sleepy East Bay town feel just a bit trendier. It's a welcome addition and an increasingly prominent meeting spot.

How We Evaluated It
I have visited Philz Coffee at least 20 times since it opened in Lafayette. I have worked from the tables and couches, gotten multiple coffee drinks, ordered using their mobile app, and tried many of their pastries.
